The 2-foot tall Butterfly Pavilion "pops-up" easily. Hang it from a string or set it on a table-top. The see-through mesh and zippered entry allow easy access for care and feeding. Includes habitat, mail-in coupon for 6-10 Painted Lady butterfly larvae with special food and complete instructions. Please be advised that there is an additional $5.00 required when redeeming your coupon for shipping and handling. Available only in the Continental U.S. and Alaska.

« Good for my little butterfly lover »

We purchased this for our daughter's 4th birthday, and I'm glad I ordered the pavilion and sent in the certificate so the cultures were in the house for her to see, because she loved opening it!
The only issue she had was that she wanted the caterpillars to turn into butterflies RIGHT NOW, not in a few days which is typical for a 4-year old I'm being told.

The customer service at Insectlore is very accomodating - our cultures were sent when the heat was soaring all over the country, so they sent me a certificate to redeem for more caterpillars once the temperatures drop to a reasonable level.

I think we'll be ordering more items from this company in the future - I would highly recommend it.

« Great present for any 3-7 yr old »

This was such a great present for my two kids I have been given them out to all my friends kids for their birthdays. What a wonderful toy for the kids to have. Its great to see the transformation of the small caterpillars into butterflies. Definitely go with the bigger of the pavilions as you will probably loose one butterfly along with the way.

« Love doing this with the kids »

We love doing this as a family -- getting the caterpillars, watching them grow, watching them spin silk, noticing all the changes.

An excellent companion book is "From Caterpillar to Butterfly" -- a Let's-Read-And-Find-Out science book. The learning level on the book is kindergarten and up, and the illustrations and information are EXCELLENT.

When ordering the larvae from Insect Lore, please note it takes a LONG time to receive your caterpillars. The timing seems way off. So far it hasn't mattered for us, but the wait time can be 3 or 4 weeks. It is regrettable there's no way to coordinate it so that the live butterflies can be released as part of a child's birthday celebration (for example).

BE CAREFUL ordering the larvae in the summer -- caterpillars need to ship in cooler weather.

This was really good in entertaining my two kids they really love playing it daily they learn a lot from home... it adds more educational values and keep them interesting .They enjoy a lot!!!Good one!!
