My kids are really enjoying this one. It's a little loud for parents sanity but has a volume knob. My kids actually like listening to the music it plays more than talking/singing on the mic.

I bought this for my 5 year-old and 3 year-old for Christmas. I had seen this item at a friend's house. Her microphone didn't work but I just figured it was because hers had been used a while. Apparently not. Our kids were thrilled to see this by the tree Christmas morning. We had it set up and ready to go when they came into the room. They turned it on right away but it only worked for about 20 minutes. After that, the speaker clicks when you wiggle the cord as if one of the wires in it is broken. We taped it in a position that worked but that only lasted about another 10 minutes. Now the microphone doesn't work at all. I logged on to find out my return options and realized that most other people had this same problem. I probably won't bother with returning it since a replacement item wouldn't be much better. I am very disappointed in this product, especially because my kids were so excited about it. Don't invite this let down for your kids.

I purchased this toy for Christmas and by Boxing Day night it was already broken. My daughter was disappointed and so was I. It was fun while it lasted.

Bought this for my girls last Christmas. It's now in trash. The sound effect work fine, but the microphone doesn't work at all. It think it is a wiring issue. Too bad as my girls had a blast playing with it.

I bought this microphone, understanding full-well from the Amazon.com reviews that it was not a durable toy.
My son was delighted to open this microphone during his 2nd birthday party. We let him take it out of the box, and he had quite an audience for his first few performances. Within an hour, the microphone no longer projected any sound. Within two hours, the buttons on the base were broken and were making terrible choppy noises when he pressed them. I know that this toy didn't take any abuse, because a room full of adults watched him play with it the entire time.
That being said, my son is crazy about having a stand for his microphone. He loves this toy. We've decided not to send it back. I'm sure the replacement would break just as quickly, and there doesn't seem to be a well-made competing product on the market.
