This battery-free vehicle is powered by "natural" energy. When a child rolls the rig forward, it triggers the generator that powers vehicle lights and plug-in characters. Made from earth-friendly material. Sprig Toys. Ages: 3+

I bought this toy for my son for Christmas. He has not stopped playing with it! He loves it! I love the durability and no batteries! Expensive, but worth every penny!

Great concept, flawed execution
»
The Discover Rig is a very sturdy and chunky toy. It wins top marks for construction. The plastic / sawdust material is pleasant to touch and smell, and the big rubber wheels are great. The toy functions by pushing the rig to light a "guide" character who narrates a story for as long as you push the rig.
What lets it down for me is that that the rig's speaker is so muffled that it is almost impossible to hear what the guide is saying. If the speaker were clearer I would think better of the toy than I do. It might be easier to hear on solid floors than it does on timber. I wouldn't recommend buying extra guides until you know if you can even hear them! If you purchase more than one guide and sit them in the passenger seat they also tend to come loose and rattle around.
I also found that the toy requires constant pushing to hear the story so you really need a very large space or turning area. If the rig stops even for a split second, the guide restarts from the beginning which is annoying.
Overall its a great concept but I think the implementation needs improvement.

A toy with a lesson for our children
»
We purchased this for our sons. We have a no-battery toy policy in our home, and this allowed them to still have lights and sounds. It's durable and made of recycled materials -- and NOT made in China!!! The many pluses far outweighed the initial sticker shock. Our boys love it -- and the toddler loves to push it around the room.

Best Toy Ever!!!

I got these Sprig rigs for christmas for my two sons and they love them. They are amazing toys and eventhough they are a little expensive it's worth every penny. They don't ever need batteries so right there your saving alot of money. They run on kid power so everytime your little one pushes the rig the little person inside lights up and makes music it's really cool. I even have fun with this toy hahaha.. Highly Recommended!!

Great toy for active little ones!
»
My 3 year old son recently received a sprig discover rig for his birthday. It quickly became his favorite toy to take on walks. He calls it his "jumbo" car!! (the driver of the car talks and says "jambo" which is"Hello" in swahili, but it sounds like "jumbo") It's fun to take on walks because the more you push it, the more sounds and music you hear.(elephants, monkeys, etc) Unfortunately, the music/lights stopped working after about a month. My husband took the car apart to see if he could fix it,but the links that turn the generator inside the car were broken. My son was heartbroken that his jumbo didn't work anymore. Since it was a gift from relatives in another state, I didn't have a receipt for it. I emailed the sprig company and quickly received a reply from one of the co-founders of the company. I explained my situation and he offered to send out a new chassis for the car. (for free)I received the new chassis today and the car is fixed again. I was very impressed with the level of customer service I received!!
