Introduce your child to the fast-paced action of hoops with Spalding's Rookie Gear Football, which is specifically engineered for kids ages 8 and under. Weighing 25 percent less than standard Pee Wee-sized balls, this Rookie Gear ball is designed to help your child throw farther right out of the gate. Parents and coaches can immediately notice improvements in throwing mechanics allowing kids to throw properly from "over-the-top" instead of awkwardly from the "sidearm" position. The lighter ball makes catching passes easier and helps kids throw farther and more accurately. | Playing with a lighter ball will help build confidence and enable learning of sound fundamental skills to keep them active and playing the game for years to come. The ball is made from high-performance composite leather, which provides leather-like softness and superior grip. Great football for kids 10 and under
»
We purchased this ball after using the Rookie Gear basketball. It has been great for our 7 (almost 8) year old. He has developed confidence in both catching and throwing. Other balls have been too difficult to grip when throwing. We have had a lot of fun with this ball.

We Love It - Great for Younger Kids !!!
»
My 8 year old son and husband just finished playing with this football for the first time since receiving it for Christmas and couldn't say enough good things about it. My son (who has some minor fine motor problems) previously had less than encouraging experiences with other kid-sized footballs to the point where he had given up playing.
This ball however has a nice grippy surface, is lightweight enough for him to throw well (which just encourages him to try again), has nice laces for throwing and is easy on the person catching the ball too. Five stars all around from us and thanks for making a ball that has my son participating again!
